Soil Engineer
Carrer Summary
We are seeking an experienced Soil Engineer to join our gold mining operations team. You'll conduct geotechnical investigations, analyze soil properties, and provide expert recommendations for mine design and construction. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale mining projects using cutting-edge technology while contributing to safe and sustainable mining practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical investigations and soil sampling at mining sites
- Perform laboratory and field testing to determine soil properties
- Design foundations for mining equipment and support infrastructure
- Analyze slope stability for open pit mines and tailings storage facilities
- Prepare geotechnical reports with risk assessments and recommendations
- Monitor geotechnical instrumentation and interpret performance data
- Collaborate with mining engineers and geologists on project planning
- Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering (mining experience preferred)
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W)
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics and slope stability analysis
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Willingness to work in remote locations and travel to mine sites

Additional Information
Location: Office-based with regular site rotations (typically 2 weeks on-site, 1 week off)
Work Environment: Role involves fieldwork at active mining sites with exposure to varying weather conditions and challenging terrain. All safety equipment and training provided.
